OG female gamer here. This DLC is not remotely woke, it's just life as a civilian caught up in sudden conflict in the Middle Ages. Volcels and otaku won't enjoy it, maybe, and so what? GTFO if it's not for you, nerdbro. But if you want to experience another side of Skalitz and what war actually was (and is) like for the average unarmed peasant -- suffering starvation, whole family slain, dodging armed rapists, and generally tackling low-odds survival without the advantages of weapons training or physical strength -- then come take a walk on the woman's side.

👍 Good
I don't understand why people hate this DLC. It's true that I also started it accidentally, and also that the gameplay is difficult, but the story is very good. You have the chance to understand the whole story better and to accomodate with it. 100% recommend it.
Theresa's story adds context to the prologue. Yes, the pacing is rather slow and much of the criticism is warranted, but it added a new perspective of someone who lost everything she had, and who had to be flexible with morals. You get to see how community-minded the people of the time were - how community was everything, and how it was like to lose it all. Johanka's storyline adds the much needed personality to Johanka that is missing in the base game - and touches on important subjects, particularly religion and repentance, and conflicts of values (including in Henry). What I love is how the player has a lot of freedom - Henry can support Johanka out of geniune faith, support her as a friend who wants to keep her out of trouble, he can follow her along for his personal gain, be antagonistic, or anything in-between. I have not actually finished it yet, but will update this review once I have.
👎 Bad
Pro-tip: To avoid this until you want to play it, avoid asking Teresa about her experience during the attack when you wake up at her uncle's. If you select the dlc prompt, she'll ask if you're sure you want to hear her story. That's your last chance to not be trapped in her story. Despite some "gamergurl" implications, the criticism of this dlc has little to do with it being "woke." The biggest complaint is that there is no clear indication you're going to engage the dlc and be stuck until you finish it, which can take 2-5 hours. And that alone completely undermines any good will for the dlc, you start it and immediately become aggravated because now you can't do anything else but finish her story and you didn't even realize it. I'm not recommending primarily for that reason. However, here's my breakdown. Pros: Lore. It's good lore. It is. Not woke. It's a pretty decent illustration of what it would be like to be a very lucky peasant girl in the middle of a war. Extra tutorial time, if you're new, it gives you a chance to mess up and learn without affecting your actual game. It also introduces you to stealth and sidekicks. It actually can provide some value in this way. You get a shield. If you care. You get the dog whether you do the dlc or not, so long as you own it. Cons: As mentioned, you can find yourself accidentally committing 2-5 hours of your time to this and that just ruins the whole damn thing. It's a 10 or 20 minute cutscene turned into 3 hours of fetch quests, with the escape being the only really pertinent and enjoyable part. All in all, if you want the lore, the dog, the shield, the achievements, get it, but get it on sale. If you don't want to spend any longer than you need in it, follow a guide for speedrunning it. You don't have to do much if any combat or otherwise. It's mostly just run, stealth, and fetch. To the devs, literally just fixing the way this dlc blindsides you can make all the difference in how it is being review bombed. Just throw in a quick parenthetical in the dialogue that says "this will start the dlc and you will need to finish it before progressing." Or, if you really want to be cool, you'd reengineer it to have way points that take you back to the core game and give you a choice to continue or delay finishing it.
Make you feel like that your sanity is killed by Cumans. Worst dlc i ever played but the main game is one of the greatest games ever..
On paper it's a great idea but in reality it's the most boring dlc i had the displeasure to play.Play it if you must but i would advise everyone to skip this pile of manure.
