No other piece of art had such an emotional charge as what I experienced in this game. Great sequel to A Plague Tale: Innocence. The already fun gameplay got improved even more, it has mindblowing soundtrack, visuals and the story will leave you completely broken, just staring in the mirror with some difficult thoughts. Definitely one of the potentially life changing titles. 10/10, masterpiece

ABSOLUTE CINEMA. I don't even know where to begin. This isn't just one of the best games I've ever played—it's one of the best stories I've ever experienced in any form of media. Movies, TV shows, books... A Plague Tale: Requiem stands shoulder to shoulder with all of them. The journey of Amicia and Hugo completely consumed me. Every chapter somehow managed to outdo the last, and by the time I reached the ending, I just sat there staring at my monitor wondering what I was supposed to do with my life now. I'm not crying. I'm not crying. ...I'm absolutely crying. The performances are unreal. Charlotte McBurney's performance as Amicia deserves every award imaginable. You don't just hear her emotions—you feel every ounce of pain, fear, hope, desperation, and love. There were so many moments where I forgot I was playing a game because the characters felt so unbelievably human. The soundtrack? Peak. The visuals? Peak. The atmosphere? Peak. The storytelling? Peak fiction. The gameplay expanded on everything from Innocence while somehow making every encounter feel more intense. Every decision felt heavier. Every victory felt earned. Every quiet moment made me appreciate the characters even more because I knew nothing good was going to last. And then... That ending. That ending genuinely changed me as a person. I know people say that about games all the time, but this is one of the few stories where I actually mean it. I don't think I'll ever forget those final moments. I've never had a game leave me sitting in complete silence after the credits rolled, trying to process what I had just witnessed. I'm not crying. You're crying. Actually, we're all crying. I've played a lot of story-driven games—Red Dead Redemption 2, NieR: Automata, The Last of Us, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, and so many others—but A Plague Tale: Requiem carved out its own place in my heart. It's heartbreaking, beautiful, brutal, hopeful, devastating, and unforgettable all at once. This game emotionally uppercut me, stole my lunch money, hugged me afterward, and then kicked me back down the stairs for good measure. I would erase this game from my memory just to experience it for the first time again. Thank you, Asobo Studio. Now if you'll excuse me... I'm not crying.

5/10 The first game had a certain unique spirit to it, but in this one, that’s gone. The game has really lost its pace compared to the first part. While the first part seamlessly alternated between stealth, action, contemplative walking, and cutscenes - and it all worked brilliantly - here, the rhythm has fallen apart: one minute it’s an hour of walking, the next it’s endless action, and then stealth that feels more stifling than in the first part. There’s absolutely none of the fluidity from the first game. And the game feels drawn out. I figured out what the developers were trying to convey three hours before the end, and frankly, by that point I was already thoroughly fed up with the gameplay. And the keyboard controls in the game are awful, even though there were no issues with them in the first game. How did they manage to ruin something that worked just fine? No complaints about the technical performance or graphics. Everything’s great there.

I absolutely loved the first A Plague Tale. The storytelling was great, and the stealth difficulty felt reasonable. I bought Requiem expecting more of the same. Unfortunately, while the game looks even more beautiful than the first one, some of its new mechanics make the gameplay much more frustrating than it should be. Once a guard is alerted, he can stay alerted forever and somehow keep track of you through walls. At least in the early chapters, some armored guards cannot be killed with the tools available to you. You can only blind them for a few seconds before they start chasing you again. At the same time, you have to deal with rats, and you cannot run while carrying a torch. The result is that getting detected often means the section is basically ruined and you are better off reloading immediately. I spent around two hours stuck in Chapter 2, repeatedly dying and replaying the same section. I have played Soulslike games that felt less frustrating than this. Difficulty is fine when the mechanics feel fair; this simply feels like bad stealth design. I really wanted to continue because I was interested in the story, but eventually decided that the gameplay was not worth the frustration. I will finish the story through YouTube instead. If you are not someone who really enjoys hardcore stealth and repeated trial-and-error, I strongly recommend thinking twice before buying this. Don't make the same mistake I did and buy it blindly just because you loved the first game.

I really really wish there was a middle option for recommending a game, because this isn't a bad game per se, but its not a good one either. There was just enough struggling and difficulty that I had playing the game that I can't recommend it to people who don't have a lot of patience for clunkier controls and slogging it through the nth amount of stealth levels. Once I got the handle of it, I still struggled because the mechanics become so annoying that I had to step away a couple of times to touch grass. Story wise, I'm not sure how to feel about it either. It felt like they disregarded some parts of the first game's narrative and how Hugo was able to manage his powers easier, but it seemed that they got rid of that mostly with some exceptions. To build on top of that, I understand the morality of killing people and after playing through the whole game I know why they put such importance on it. But ohh my god shut the hell up about freaking out on Amicia for killing people in this game when she has done just as much in the last game too, it was honestly grinding on my nerves. I feel like the message could've been executed better without needing to have everyone (especially a guy who KILLED PEOPLE) trying to punish Amicia for her actions. On the bright side, I did really like all of the character interactions and there were parts of the story that did charm me to keep playing. They had really good character dynamics with the characters that are introduced in this game with Amicia and Hugo and it was a breath of fresh air. Additionally I'm not sure on how I feel about the whole backstory to the macula with Aelia and Basilius, but it was really interesting to learn more about how it started and just the expansiveness of the macula's powers. Not to mention I'm a sucker for parallels in stories, and enjoyed uncovering a story that's just like theirs The ending was insanely brutal though, like that was soo evil and so incredibly tragic. I literally gasped so loud it startled my cat and could not stop crying. All in all, its really up to you if you're dedicated to see this game to the end. My recommendation personally? Find someone like a streamer or a Youtuber to play this game and actually experience the story without all of the slogging. If you really want to play the game, wait for it to go on sale and try it out. I bought this game at full price, played the first 30 minutes and immediately refunded it because I knew I wasn't going to enjoy a $50 game with a lot of flaws. $15 was more justifiable for me to actually try it and see what it has to offer even despite its gameplay. I plan on playing the next game that they have to offer in this series and I can only pray that it won't be as clunky and awful to play. This series is loved by a lot of people as I've been seeing on Steam reviews but realistically its an okay story that has their charming parts that does shine every now and then. The ending did leave an effect on me and I do think that the messages have some impact. Again its your own account if you decide to slog through the gameplay to be able to see those parts.
