I enjoyed this more than the base game, in all honesty. It made both Rose and Ethan shine, and I think stepping away from the self-insert intentionally characterless player character was a great call. The middle section in particular was very, very strong.

👍 Good
Winters' Expansion contains "Shadow of Rose" extra story and 2 additional maps with achievements in the mercenaries mode. The gameplay is a good mix of combat and puzzles just like the main game. Combat feels like RE2R. Also few words that i wanna share than a review here which contain SPOILERS. They have been implement things from Shinji Mikami's games which is a very positive thing for me. The whole "Shadow of Rose" DLC story takes place in a realm called "Megamycete" which is a very similar realm to "STEM" from "Evil Within" game. Furthermore RE8 Devs created an enemy who stop follows you when you're looking at them, exactly the case of DLC quest in "Ghostwire: Tokyo" created by Mikami's studio back then. What i wanna say is: I strongly believe that newer RE Devs have played Shinji Mikami's games and they have been inspired by them, resulting in a wonderful RE gameplay experience. They show respect to one of the first creators to the franchise and they collab ideas from his games which totally suit the Resident Evil style. I just hope someday Capcom and Mikami collaborate again to create one last Resident Evil game together.
Shadows of Rose was nothing like I expected, and I mean that in a good way. It feels very different from the main game, leaning much further into psychological horror, surreal environments, and genuinely creepy set pieces. Some sections had me far more tense than anything in the base game. The atmosphere is excellent, the central mystery kept me constantly theorizing about what was really happening, and Rose’s powers add an interesting wrinkle to both exploration and combat. The more limited resources make Rose feel much more vulnerable than Ethan, which suits the horror, although the enemies can become incredibly annoying and she sometimes feels deceptively slow. Most of the puzzles worked well, but a few clues and escape routes weren’t communicated clearly enough, leaving me confused about what the game wanted rather than challenged by the solution. The controls also become overloaded in places, with dodging, turning, attacking, and using powers occasionally fighting for the same inputs. My biggest complaint is the forced third-person perspective. After playing Village in first person, third person simply didn’t hit the same for me. I massively prefer first-person Resident Evil, especially for horror, and I wish the DLC had at least offered the choice. Despite those frustrations, this is an excellent DLC. It looks fantastic, delivers some of the creepiest material in Village, gives Rose more personality than I expected, and carries a surprisingly strong emotional core. By the end, I was very glad they made it.
👎 Bad
Utter combatslop, not helped in the least by there being no combat mods for the DLC. When the credits list got to the heading 'QA' I expected nothing to be listed under it. 4 / 10
I got this in the bundle while it was on sale, despite being cheaper than the base game at the time, shadow of rose makes me want compensation for time wasted playing a worse version of the Arkham Asylum Scarecrow sections without the benefit of being Batman and the commitment to not showing Ethan's face was too comedic to not have been taking the piss. Merceries was alright but trying to get SS on the factory made me an atheist because no loving god would allow this to be made under his watch.
Resident Evil: Daddy Issues (Glitter Edition) WTF is this a magic game or what... I liked the Beneviento part, that ♥♥♥♥ was so freaky, but the rest was like... nah.. touching, but I feel like this was made for a 17 year old girl with daddy issues
