Age of Empires II - Dynasties of India Surprisingly Good Expansion for Unique Asian Civilizations Really worth getting as part of a discounted bundle! Dynasties of India is the most distinctive and unconventional of the early expansions released for Age of Empires II: Definitive Edition, featuring stories and settings that differ significantly from those of the original game and its first DLCs. From a gameplay perspective, the campaigns are neither particularly complex nor especially challenging. The idea of splitting India into three separate civilizations was a fitting choice within the context of the expansion, as it allowed each campaign to focus on its own historical figures, cultures, and kingdoms from across the Indian subcontinent. However, each civilization feels somewhat incomplete in terms of unit variety, with the Hindustanis relying almost entirely on camel riders, while the Bengalis and Dravidians depend heavily on war elephants. However, the storytelling behind them is where this expansion stands out the most, with memorable characters and narratives that explore themes rarely addressed in previous campaigns, such as regret, corruption, redemption, mourning and religious fundamentalism, from the spiritual and cultural perspectives of Buddhism and Islam. Babur Babur's campaign has reasonably difficult gameplay due to its scenario design. However, many of its missions can be approached quite easily through alliances and aggressive strategies targeting enemy castles, town centers, and the opponent's commanders. The storytelling is remarkably clear and very expressive, vividly describing the people of the steppes, places, and events surrounding the rise of Babur's empire in Hindustan. Devapala This is the campaign with the strongest storytelling of the expansion. The character development of the Emperor Devapala is surprisingly nuanced and cohesive, making him one of the most memorable protagonists in the Dynasties of India DLC. On the other hand, the gameplay is fairly straightforward, reusing a handful of mechanics introduced in previous expansions and featuring missions that can often be completed quite easily by relying almost exclusively on war elephants and siege elephants. However, the main drawback of this approach is that elephant units tend to get stuck on one another due to their large hitbox size, often making them difficult to maneuver in narrow spaces or during large battles. Rajendra Rajendra's campaign is the most demanding and challenging in the expansion in terms of multitasking, resource management, and strategic planning. On the other hand, it is also the campaign with the largest number of gameplay mechanics, including alliances, city control, and the ability to command allied forces through existent taunts. From a narrative standpoint, it is a short but concise campaign that portrays very well themes of corruption, ambition, and the abuse of power.

👍 Good
Great new civilization to add riches to the sub-continent with diverse culture & religions. Dravidians is great but Thirisadai ship appearance needs to be reworked to better reflect ancient Chola ship who roams from Middle east to China, and current Thirisadai appearance need to be given to Malays as uinique naval units to reflect naval civilization. Current Thirisadai appearance is based of ancient 'Borobudur' ship of the shailendras-srivijayas with Tanja Sails native to Austronesians (malays included).
👎 Bad
It all went downhill from here, each DLC that came after got worse than the previous. Current devs ruined the original game with ridiculous mechanics that nobody asked for.
I paid for these 3 dlcs just for them to be given for free without a f Never pay again
Fix files fail to transfer in custom lobbies.
