Dishonored: The Brigmore Witches – Review After finishing Dishonored: The Brigmore Witches, I came away feeling like this was a strong conclusion to Daud's story and a satisfying payoff to everything The Knife of Dunwall had been building toward. The biggest difference this time is that Delilah is no longer just a mysterious name. Daud now knows who he is looking for, the Brigmore Witches are actively watching him, and the entire story feels much more focused. The opening mission, Choosing Your Mark, is extremely short, but I loved the beginning. Daud dreaming about fighting Corvo was fantastic, and hearing the Whalers discuss choices I actually made in The Knife of Dunwall was an excellent touch. They talked about Daud blowing up Rothwild's slaughterhouse, sparing Overseers, and even questioned his leadership. It made my previous choices feel like actual history rather than something the game had forgotten. A Stay of Execution for Lizzy was a solid mission and did a surprisingly good job reusing Coldridge Prison. Instead of escaping the prison as Corvo, Daud is now breaking into it to rescue somebody else. The Overseer disguise was especially useful and gave the mission a similar feeling to Lady Boyle's Last Party, where hiding in plain sight becomes more useful than constantly sneaking through shadows. I also managed to save three guards who were about to be executed using chokedust and sleep darts, including the same guard who helped Corvo escape Coldridge in the original game. But my favorite mission was easily The Dead Eels. This mission feels like classic Dishonored at its best. You are dropped into an ongoing gang war between the Dead Eels and Hatters while Brigmore Witches are secretly moving around the district. Different factions fight each other without Daud even getting involved, which makes the entire area feel alive. I only killed Wakefield. After talking with him and basically telling him he was finished, I killed him with my sword and dumped his body into the water through the hatch I had entered from. Everyone else survived. Even after the Hatters suddenly became hostile when I grabbed the engine coil, I simply ran back to the Undine instead of massacring them. The witches were another highlight. One tried pretending to be an injured woman searching for her child, but I immediately knew something was wrong because she looked like the same witch I had previously seen spying on the Undine before disappearing in front of me. The final mission, Delilah's Masterwork, delivers the payoff the story needed. Brigmore Manor has a completely different atmosphere from most of Dunwall. It is dark, overgrown, supernatural, and filled with witches, making it feel almost like Daud has stepped into another world. Instead of killing Delilah, I replaced her painting of Emily with one depicting a tree, causing Delilah to trap herself inside the painting during her own ritual. That was much more satisfying than simply stabbing her. The ending also brings Daud's story full circle. Corvo ultimately spares him, and the short post-credits scene of Daud kneeling beside Jessamine's memorial plaque and offering her his sword was one of my favorite moments in either of Daud's games. It perfectly represents his entire story. Daud cannot undo Jessamine's murder. He cannot ask her for forgiveness. All he can do is acknowledge what he did and finally lay down the weapon that defined his life. PROS • Strong conclusion to Daud's story • Delilah finally becomes the central threat • Previous choices carry over and are acknowledged • Whalers discussing Daud's past actions is fantastic • Daud remains extremely fun to play • Overseer disguise adds great social-stealth gameplay • The Dead Eels is an excellent sandbox mission • Gang warfare makes the world feel alive • Brigmore Witches are creepy and interesting enemies • Brigmore Manor has fantastic atmosphere • Outsmarting Delilah is extremely satisfying • Excellent post-credits scene with Jessamine's memorial • Same beautiful painterly art direction as the previous games CONS • Very short • Choosing Your Mark barely feels like a full mission • Some locations are reused from the original game • Could have used more time exploring the Brigmore Witches themselves • River Krusts are still ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ here FINAL SCORE: 8.5/10 Dishonored: The Brigmore Witches takes everything The Knife of Dunwall set up and gives Daud's story the conclusion it deserved. The missions are stronger overall, Delilah becomes a fascinating threat, the world reacts to choices made previously, and Daud's journey from Jessamine's murderer to someone genuinely haunted by what he did becomes surprisingly compelling. The game is once again much too short, but The Dead Eels, Brigmore Manor, the confrontation with Delilah, and Daud's final moment at Jessamine's memorial made this a memorable ending. The Knife of Dunwall showed me Daud's regret. The Brigmore Witches showed me what he decided to do with it. 8.5/10. Excellent.
