Developer Chromatic Games is in love with dark patterns and enshittification to sell DLC/MTX. They're modifying the game to extract money from players with artificial difficulty and P2W interactions. Dungeon Defenders 1 is the only game that has good-will but even then they're ruining it more and more because all their other reiterations have flopped because once again, they're too greedy trying to milk the player into spending money or grinding forever. Treat yourself with respect and don't support this developer. Their customer support is terrible, late game scaling is a mess, and you yourself as a person don't need to play something that will overtime get even more and more P2W/DLC heavy.
