I suggest you get this DLC by getting the Expansion Pass, which includes both DLCs. It's not much, but it's fun, especially if you like Final Fantasy XVI's combat. Also, I recommend playing this DLC before the other one.

👍 Good
Get it on sale. Very short, but has a cool final fight.
this is just like The Omega Protocol from the hit mmorpg Final Fantasy XIV
👎 Bad
Echoes of the Fallen is a short questline which sees you exploring an old Fallen tower and fighting your way up to a boss at the end. It is short and sweet, being the better of the two Final Fantasy XVI DLCs, and even packs in some interesting accessories. I fear however that it's far too late in the game for said accessories to matter, since by the time you will be finishing this DLC, the game is one mission away from over. You hardly get to use them, and so I can't really say I recommend buying this DLC. If there were one thing to buy this DLC for, it would be the boss which awaits you at the end of your climb. A fun enemy which debuted in Final Fantasy V is reimagined into the world of Valisthea for you to overcome. Like all fights in XVI, the boss is easily defeated. The boss theme however is quite good, and some of the attacks that the boss used were interesting for XVI's standards. The one thing I was looking forward to in this DLC was to learn more about The Fallen themselves, maybe get a glimpse into the past and see what the world was like when they were the inhabitants... But there was no such lore to be had. You learn next to nothing about them, and what you do learn is pertinent only to the immediate events and not applicable outside of the DLC itself. Very disappointing. But then again, what else can you expect from Final Fantasy XVI? I would give Echoes of the Fallen a 2.5/10. It could have been higher had the DLC been placed earlier in the game so that the rewards would actually be useable, or if the story was any level of interesting. I really only recommend this if you plan to play new game+, assuming the new accessories carry over. They add some sorely needed complexity to the combat system, however slight.
I thought Final Fantasy XVI couldn't dissappoint me more... But then i played this DLC. Alas, while i was playing it I wondered if it's cut content or reused enemies put in a dungeon that fits them more than the base game... Also, why does the dungeon looks llke it could have been in Code Vein ?
Bad. The main characters are reduced to a snarky Greek chorus, the new guy sucks and feels racist against some ethnic group (maybe Romani?), the "dungeon" is a bore with "that one guy with an axe" from the base game inexplicably chosen to be one of the bosses, and the final boss is a slog. That's not even addressing the fact that like 90% of the story/lore of the DLC is just reheated leftovers from FF14 (specifically the dungeon "The Aetherochemical Research Facility," and also a song from a later raid is remixed for the final boss' theme). Sincerely nothing of value here.
