EU4 DLCs - Wealth of Nations This is such a random DLC it's hard to review it. The main reason 99% of people get this is trade companies (which I'll get into in detail soon) and, yes, it's pretty massive a feature. There's a bunch of other small features in here to consider too though, which are honestly just a supplement that are kind of nice to have, I guess, but aren't significant enough to matter. Trade Companies Are trade companies worth $5 (the price of the DLC on sale)? Depends on how much you play really. Trade Companies enable the converting of provinces across the Old World that historically had European trade settlements built in it into trade company provinces, that reduce wrong-religion debuff and massively improve trade power. It basically lets you make insane amounts of money as a colonial nation going eastward. Believe me, it is a gargantuan change. I've played trade games before and after owning this in the East, and it without a doubt massively buffs your nation. If you are playing a colonial nation at all whatsoever this is a very important DLC. This is also important if you are a serious player and do massive amounts of blobbing or whatever, as the revenue from trade companies will help fuel conquests (especially as hordes). Extermely powerful tool that is important for those types of plays. If you however mostly play, say, in the Americas, or in the HRE, or otherwise far from that region, there's 0 point in getting this tool and subsequently this DLC. Trade Capitals Nice little feature that let's you move a trade capital to better control nodes. That said I don't think I've used this once in hundreds of hours. It's a nice feature but the circumstances of using it are rare. Privateering and trade conflicts Trade conflicts are useless. Privateering is situationally useful but in almost every case just protecting trade is better. Two neat but more or less useless features. Reformed Fervor and Hindu Deities I was genuinely surprised when I read closer and realized this was a feature in this DLC. What relation does this have with trade??? Reformed is arguably a weaker version of protestantism (though that's a big debate right there) but this is a nice feature if you play reformed a lot. And Hindu Deities in a patch about trade????????????? What paradox?????? Ok???? Final Verdict The small features are nice but the entire weight of this DLC is clearly in the trade company camp. If you have use for trade companies, grab this DLC on sale. The DLC absolutely does not have enough content for $10, but you can justify $5 if you play a lot or have interest in those areas of the world. Otherwise just skip this DLC. 5/10.

👍 Good
Pretty much an essential to any player seeking to play a very economic game. It adds piracy, piety-like mechanics for the Reformed faith (which absolutely sucked before this expansion). If you want to build a merchant empire from an OPM, this is the expansion for you. Side effects: Makes the Hanseatic Union (Hansa) complitely overpowered in the early game due to their massive trade income and the ability to pay for level 2 advisors as a result.
If this is on sale, I recommend it. It allows you to control your home trade node better with the new trade capital, and the privateer missions and force trade power can be useful. Not worth the $9.99, but still is a good expansion.
👎 Bad
You are honest to god just paying 10 bucks for the ability to move your trade capital and to get a decision that gives you another merchant (east india company) Highly subjective if you really care about those (no, you don't care about things like privateers) but do not get this at full price if you do
