This is the weakest DLC. The environment and overall plot aren't particularly interesting, with the exception of one standout NPC (you'll know exactly who I mean if you've played it). However, it is the easiest of the four add-ons and is already available at level 15. It functions as a great early-game pitstop to farm valuable supplies and rack up easy experience points. Some advice: The opening sequence is heavily scripted. Don't bother reloading if the initial outcome displeases you - it is unchangeable. However, be careful with your trigger finger right after crossing the first bridge. I had to reload several hours of progress because I gunned down everything at the start. You've been warned!

👍 Good
tfw it was hyped up to be top 10 dlc of all time with the best character but everyone died in the beginning ambush and i just had to collect a map after slaughtering natives with no story 10/10
This DLC is the definition of great writing. The overall gameplay is rather shallow and the insta decisions was a very interesting pacing choice but I believe it serves the overall narrative the DLC is trying to ask you: will you protect the innocence of others even if it means leaving them woefully unprepared for the reality of the world? And that question is literally asked not 20 minutes into the DLC. It rushes you to choose and I think that makes sense in the grander narrative (Six wants to get back home) and also in the more immediate narrative (The White Legs are absolutely killing us out here and we gotta GO/FIGHT). Randal Clark. I really did appreciate the depiction of a lawful neutral deadbeat dad in the post apocalypse. The guy is hailed as this stoic hero by the fans but actually reading his notes you can see he's deeply regretting failing to be there for his real family that he's afraid to actually teach the sorrows how to properly defend themselves. This DLC is Six being the step dad who steps up and forces the family to break apart at the seams because hiding in Zion isn't going to protect the Sorrows anymore than running away. It felt like I was choosing an ending to the cycle of violence / starting it and that's freaking POWERFUL stuff. Joshua Graham. I was expecting more. He's a good Christian, or he tries to be. He's pretty shallow all things considered, his dialogue does leave an interesting impression but I wholly reject the ultra conservative argument of " Return to Tribal, Ignore the outside world, protect zion at all cost" because the path that led down was just straight savage and a disservice to the Sorrows and the Dead Horses. Daniel, Ngl, I don't like daniel. He's kinda whiny and has unrealisitc expectations but he makes the most sense. The soil is not worth losing the tribe over. This DLC is a masterpiece, but it is a lot more shallow than I remember. I think that's Ok, we the courier are literally entering in the "ACT 3" of the Sorrows and Dead Horses vs the White Legs from their perspective.
👎 Bad
On a new replay after playing this DLC countless times I have to say it is clearly the most tame DLC of the four. It is extremely short for a DLC with the only padding being the annoying amount of fetch quests. I think this DLC would benefit highly from less back and forth walking where nothing happens. the enemy variety is basically just tribe people and geckos with occasional Yao Guai. where this DLC shines is its exploration of morality with Joshua Grahams character which is basically this who DLC's selling point.
Kinda underwhelming. Best thing is Joshua but aside of that the storyline is by far one of the weakest of the NV world and it’s essentially a glorified fetch simulator.
