Very stylish turn based tactics game attracted my attention simply with visuals when saw trailer and only after that was gameplay, which seemed to suit my taste. So it is quite simple turn based tactics title where everyone goes in order of their initiative, which could change for better or worse with buffs or debuffs, combat is quite standard, flanking and backstabbing got bonus dmg, there are skills that are activated immediately and those that take time, buffs, debuffs, pushes, aoe, etc. You basically only get 3 classes from the start who could have up to 7 skills at most with option to choose between 2 different ones for 5 of them. Skills could also be modified slightly with more dmg, shredding armour and so on. Classes are - ranged buffer, melee damage dealer with low hp and tank. A bunch of abilities use your hp instead of action points and there are no heals during combat. Btw, combat points haw a slight twist - you got 100 of them at start and skills could use anything from 20 to 50 or so, but after you go below 50 ability points, you enter burst mode which pushes your initiative to -100, which in most cases means after not only your and enemy units but two “turns” in the row, making it extremely dangerous mechanic to use. Missions are pretty much all - kill everything with some variations and one escort. Enemy variety is not insane, but good enough, after you are introduced to a bunch of them in first missions, next batches will have improved versions of beginner foes and some new ones. Bosses range from hard to insane, sometimes behaving straight up unfair, especially last one. Besides combat you only got simple management of your units, choosing their skills after lvl up, putting skill modifiers, looking at traits they earned and such, there is nothing else much. Visuals are striking to say the least, black and white with rare dashes of red, gross plague ridden foes and incredible level designs. It’s not most realistic or best looking, but such art direction should make it always relevant. Soundtrack is a surprising mix, cause half of the time it’s average not intrusive music that is just there to not distract you but also not adding much to atmosphere, but other half it’s surprisingly striking osts with interesting lyrics. Cryptic story for half of the game kinda leaves you guessing, but you’re mostly busy trying to not lose your squads, only checking on story at start and end of each episode, much more data becomes revealed later in short texts from bunch of time periods, giving some hints on how events of game come to be. Replayability kinda present considering that in case you lose to boss or lose all your fighters, you got to start again with some bonuses. There are also 2 difficulties - dream, that makes game a lot more manageable, not easy, but lets say standard difficulty and “nightmare” that is presented as “intended” level, however game is much much harder on it.

👍 Good
I saw someone describe with game as the Darksouls of TBT. This is the best description of this game I've seen in one sentence. In more sentences, it's a small squad tactics game where you need to keep multiple a roster deep enough to field multiple squads. How you play each member shapes the perks they unlock and how different build options help them as they level. The boss fights can be very challenging and a great puzzle to figure out. If you want a TBT game that has larger armies or that you can steamroll things, this game might not be for you. If you want a game that can be a bit frustrating and need you to plan out resources outside of fights while considering positioning, turn order, which member has which perks, and more, then give this game a try, particularly if you pick it up on sale.
exceptional ary style. cinematography of this game is another level. play this in a dark room at night to get into the world. after some time you bıild connection with your "girls" and gameplay becomes much harder because you don't want to lose them. 10/10
👎 Bad
Don't get me wrong, this is a cool game. The classes system is tight, you have to make a lot of careful decisions with character health, trait manipulation, and the bosses have fun mechanics to me. However, the regular missions are VERY grindy. The moment you have more than 6 enemies, the rounds take forever. This could be resolved by tightening up the game's AI and UX animations to recover some of the speed of the game. The slower animation beats are fine in games where you have 3-5 enemies on screen, but Othercide frequently has 7+ enemies that all take turns individually and have similar pauses in between everything (pause to start, move, animate attack, closing pause... ). It adds up and makes the game feel like a slog.
I really wanted to like it. Art is great, music is great but its too masochistic even for me. If you dont mind being spankwanked this game is for you. I however am not into it, no matter how hot the nun is.
Looks and feels cool at the first 30 minutes. But after that you realize you've seen everything the game offers.
